My skin type is normally dry and dehydrated (combination during warmer weather months). It’s also very sensitive and I had no idea just how sensitive up until recently. When I was testing products to find a good fit for my current needs, I noticed severe irritation and burning.
I’ve always been into Skincare but if I’m being honest it was mostly the marketing I was attracted to. Always on the hunt for the “best” products for dehydrated and dry skin. The ones that claim to give you instant results and remove your fine lines and wrinkles. The ones that say use this x amount of times and you can defy gravity … OK maybe not in those exact words, but you get the gist.
I somehow (and thankfully so) discovered YT skincare enthusiasts Hyram and James Welsh and took their advice lightly and followed what is suitable for my skin type. Because my skin type is mostly on the dehydrated and sensitive side I opted for a simple and extremely dewy skincare routine. And after some trial & error, I finally found some amazing products that have worked wonders and I am excited to share them with you all!
Cleanse: Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser
This. Cleanser! The matcha hemp hydrating cleanser by Krave Beauty is a fragrance-free, antioxidant-rich, jelly cleanser with barrier-friendly ingredients such as Matcha (first ingredient!), Hemp Seeds, Oats, Almonds, Vitamin B5, and Sodium PCA (a natural component of human skin). I love how gentle it feels when lathering on the skin, it doesn’t feel as if it’s ripping off layers of skin, nor does my skin feel tight or super dry afterward! Many cleansers make the bold claim to not strip the skin but this is the only one I’ve found to be true to its word!
Oil: Honey Grail Facial Oil
Once my cleansing is complete I air dry for a bit until my skin is damp. Applying product on top of damp skin helps to lock in the extra moisture my skin desperately needs. Once damp I then go in with Farmacy’s Honey Grail and let me just say I love this stuff! I use 3-4 drops and pat it onto my skin it goes on so smooth, it’s so lightweight, and does not clog the pores! Formulated with buckwheat honey (known for its soothing humectant properties and antioxidants), sea buckthorn oil, and a blend of Hibiscus, Rosehip, Evening Primrose, Crambe, and Sunflower oils this will give your skin a soft dewy glow! And let me tell ya I am obsessed with the glow!
Moisturize: Honey Halo Moisturizer
Oh honey, honey! Dare I say I believe I may have found my holy grail! The Farmacy Honey Halo Moisturizer is a thick and intense moisturizer – perfect for my dehydrated and dry skin! One of my favorite things about the moisturizer has to be the fact that it comes with a magnetic lid and spatula to scoop out the product! With amazing ingredients such as (yet again) buckwheat honey, shea butter, vitamin E, and fig fruit extract my skin is left super dewy and plumped! I am in awe of this moisturizer!
Protect: Kinship Self Reflect SPF 32 | Supergoop Glow Screen
Oh, yes! The most important step to any skincare routine! I will admit prior to learning more about skincare I never liked wearing any type of SPF! It would have a harsh chemical smell, feel super greasy on the skin, and of course leave a dreaded white-cast. Now that I’m more educated on the importance of an SPF and the many varieties I love this final step! My daily driver and one I currently lean towards the most is the Kinship Self Reflect with SPF 32. Formulated with patented probiotic technology and Zinc Oxide this mineral sunscreen is lightweight and very hydrating. It is slightly tinted but it easily sheers out and blends smoothly into the skin!
I also alternate and use the Supergoop Glow Screen with SPF 40. I love that this is a higher SPF but both are excellent and boost the glow to my already present glow and dewy skin! The Supergoop Glow Screen has a heavier glow as the name implies versus the Kinship. But both are excellent and wear great under makeup.
My current routine brings me joy and confidence throughout my day. I don’t worry about any dry spots or looking dreadful later on in the day because my skin stays hydrated and dewy. Most importantly none of the aforementioned products have caused any irritation to my super sensitive skin.
I’d love to know what is your favorite part about your skincare routine! Have you found a routing that works for your skin? Feel free to share any of your favorite products below!
Happy & healthy skin,
