As the seasons change so does your skincare routine. And depending on your skin type and the climate where you are, your skincare will very much depend on the changes happening around you. Many will start to get oily as the weather starts to warm up, especially in Summer. When I lived in the City my skin would get oily around this time of the year. I remember my coworker thinking I ran to work because my face looked“sweaty”. It wasn’t, it was super oily, ha! However, since living further upstate, my skin stays dry but not Winter dry. But I’ve made some adjustments to my nightly Spring skincare routine to balance out my skin type.
A nightly skincare routine is just as important as your morning routine. Having a nighttime routine allows your skin to rejuvenate and just as your body is relaxing so is your skin. And because your skin care has a better chance to absorb products at night a nighttime routine can be more effective than your morning routine.
How do you prepare your skin for Spring?
Firstly, you want to evaluate your skin. As we transition from Winter to Spring your skin may not be desiring those heavy and thick moisturizers as before. And you don’t have to change your routine instead just swap out products that will better suit your skin for the current season.
The Four Essentials For Skincare
Starting a skincare routine may seem daunting at first. Especially, with all the new products launching lately, and when watching the skinfluencers, you may feel you need a 20-step routine. But that’s not true at all. Having just the essentials is plenty enough. So what are the four essentials for skincare?
- A cleansing balm & cleanser. I combine these two together because it’s important to double-cleanse at night to wash away any impurities, SPF, and makeup.
- An exfoliator. This helps with skin cell turnover.
- Moisturizer. Yes, even if you have oily skin you should still moisturize.
- SPF. You won’t need this in your nightly skincare routine but it’s a must for daytime.
My Nightly Spring Skincare Routine For Dry & Sensitive Skin
As I said, you don’t have to change your routine entirely if it’s working for you just change the products. In this post, I’ll be sharing my nightly Spring skincare routine for my skin type. Because of my skin sensitivity and because my skin is reactive I try to keep my skincare routine simple and use ingredients I know it loves.
Elf Holy Hydration Cleansing Balm
I’m surprised by how many times I’ve purchased this over and over again. It is gentle and great at removing SPF and makeup at the same time. I use this in conjunction with the makeup eraser. This combo ensures everything is getting removed!

Tatcha The Rice Wash Cleanser
I love how this doesn’t dry out my skin and using it with the opposite side of my makeup eraser I can tell if everything has been thoroughly removed. My skin feels so soft after cleansing.

Wishful Yo Glow Exfoliator
If you’ve seen this post then you know how much I love this exfoliator. My skin has felt smoother and looks brighter every time I use it. And I love how minimal my pores look.

Hyaluronic Acid Serum
To put hydration back into my skin, I love using a serum. And this simple yet effective serum does the job just fine.

Naturium Night Cream
This is such a great thick moisturizer that lasts great throughout the night. So when I wake up in the morning my skin doesn’t feel dry.

Lawless Forget The Filler Overnight Lip Mask
Lastly, I love using the lawless lip mask. I have very dry lips that have fine lines and unlike other lip masks I’ve tried this lasts great overnight. I wake up to smooth hydrated lips.

As you can probably tell, I love my nighttime skincare routine. I find the products to be more effective and my skin to look its best during the mornings. Do you prefer your morning or night routine?
